Corey Smith 


Corey smith played high school ball at Piscataway High School where he was named an All-County, All-State and All-American player and was chosen as Baseball America's Top High School Hitter in the Country. He was very highly recruited by every major college in the country. He was offered a full scholarship to attend The University of Miami. However, Corey was selected in the first round of the 2000 MLB first year player draft by the Cleveland Indians, and he elected to start his professional career out of high school. 

Corey recently completed his 15 year professional baseball playing career. He finished his career after another fine season with the Somerset Patriots. Corey was named to the 2014 Atlantic League First Team while leading the team in hitting and ranking fourth in the league with a .305 average. He has finished third in the league in doubles (37) fifth in walks (65) and on-base percentage (.386). Prior to Corey's three seasons with the Patriots, he played with several major league organizations. While in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, he played for the Dodgers AA affiliate in Chattanooga and AAA affiliate in Albuquerque. He finished the 2011 season with a .261 average and 28 extra base hits and 46 rbi's. Corey had a stellar 2010 campaign with the Chattanooga Lookouts where he finished 2nd in the Southern league with 86 rbi's and 275 hits. He finished the 2009 season with 22 homers and 90 RBI's for the AA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. In 2008 he played for the Los Angeles AA team where he led the league in home runs with 27. 

Corey has been teaching baseball players of all ages for more than 10 years. His extensive playing experience combined with his passion for the game and previous coaching experience helps him bring a highly advanced style of teaching today's youth.
